Have you ever felt lost in your family? Have you ever felt like you just didn't fit? Feeling like you're alone and there isn't anyone to relate is a huge weight to carry. Being an adopted daughter, I struggled with this all throughout my middle school to early high school years. It wasn't until graduating from high school that I started to realize that genetics didn't mean a thing- and it shouldn't. The people that raised me are my parents. While I still wonder about my birth parents, this animation describes how I felt and how I slowly healed and came to an understanding.

The images are a direct look into how I choose to animate. I digitally hand draw each image repeatedly to show a continuous flow and motion. For this project we were to describe ourselves to the class- something about us that the people had to figure out through our finished piece. I decided to choose to animate my story in coming to accept that my biological parents were simply the people that were responsible for my origin. I was never alone, I have always had family and close friends be there for me.

I knew that I wanted it to be simple. Being that we could only use shapes, I utilized squares and circles. I wanted it to represent two pieces of paper; A crumpled piece that finally came to nice, smooth surface.

This animation consists of a total of 100 layered frames.
