Sometimes we need daily reminders when we are feeling down. A pick me up would be nice. We may not know it but we have qualities that make up these traits we sometimes feel we lack. I wanted this project to be something that everyone could relate to. I thought of three traits that we all feel we don't have or we feel like we cannot achieve some days; Courage, Happiness, and Living Life to its Fullest. In the form of recipe cards, I began to show just what exactly we have and need in order to be successful in these three areas. I wanted this to be a collaborative piece as well as something to help me in my daily life. While we may not realize it, people share the same ideas and thoughts when it comes to these words- what do they mean? What does it mean to have these traits?

Final Emblem Designs- Courage, Life, Happiness

While normal recipe cards depict pictures of what is being made, I wanted to depict a badge- an emblem showing proof that we have these traits that make us courageous, the outgoing personality and willing to go the distance for living life to its fullest, and the optimism and creativity to achieve our own happiness. I took the symbolism of each, and applied it to become a coat of arms type badge. I associated each word to either a symbolic image or what most people consider to make them feel that specific trait.

After completing the recipe cards, the next thing I needed to tackle was creating the pins. The emblems would be wearable pins, in a way to say that "I carry these qualities."

I had to ask myself what I found in myself that made me courageous, made me live life to its fullest, and made me find happiness from day to day. Figuring I had more qualities, visions, and personal interests in certain things, I took a tally. From that tally, whatever became the highest ranked the most in terms of ingredients. Happiness consists of lots of friends and family members, not just to me but to other people. To be courageous I felt that bravery was one of the more important qualities over confidence or sheer strength.
